Comedian Joe Wilkinson headlines charity comedy night at Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre

Swindon, UK – Acclaimed comedian Joe Wilkinson will take to the stage at the Wyvern Theatre in Swindon for a special one-night charity comedy event on Monday 22 June, joined by a lineup of well-known television and comedy performers including Roisin Conaty, Lou Sanders, Harriet Kemsley, Ivo Graham and Rich Wilson.

The evening aims to raise vital funds and awareness for Prospect Hospice, a local charity providing compassionate end-of-life care and support to patients and their families.

The event holds deep personal significance for Wilkinson, who was introduced to the work of Prospect Hospice following the illness of his late father-in-law, local artist Paul Exton. After being diagnosed with liver cancer, Paul received end-of-life care from the hospice, where staff supported both him and his family during an incredibly difficult period. He spent his final week at the hospice in Wroughton, surrounded by comfort and dignity, before passing away in November 2025.

Speaking about the event, Wilkinson said: “Prospect Hospice gave the family real support when it was needed most. The care they showed Paul – and all of the family – was extraordinary. This night is about saying thank you, and helping make sure others can receive that same level of care.”

Jeremy Lune, CEO at Prospect Hospice said: “Joe’s support means a great deal to everyone here, and we’re incredibly grateful to him and the wider line-up for giving their time so generously. Events like this are vital.  Quite simply, without the support of our community, we wouldn’t be here.”

Prospect Hospice provides care in both patients’ homes and at the hospice in Wroughton, supporting people with life-limiting illnesses across Swindon, Marlborough and north-east Wiltshire.

Despite the critical role it plays in the community, the charity relies heavily on donations to continue its work, with only 16% of its funding coming from the government.  This gap means that the hospice is currently only able to open half of its specialist inpatient beds.

The upcoming comedy night will bring together laughter and generosity. The memorable evening will help ensure more local people can access expert care, comfort and support when they need it most.
