Community Development Manager, Islington Bereavement Service
Fixed term for one year
Salary: Band 6 £30,939 – £40,809 (pro rata) per annum inclusive
Hours of work: 18.75 hours per week
St Joseph’s Hospice provides Palliative Care for people with progressive and life limiting illnesses living in the East and North London. The Hospice has been awarded a prestigious contract by Islington CCG and will be working in partnership with the ELiPSe Palliative Care Team – Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust to provide component 2 of the 3 component model of Bereavement Services, defined in the Nice Guidelines for Palliative and supportive Care 2004 . We have developed a new post that will be critical to the success of delivering this new service.
We require a Community Development Manager who will work closely with bereavement colleagues at St Joseph’s Hospice and with the ELiPSe Palliative Care Team to provide an effective high quality level 2 Bereavement Service for residents of the London Borough of Islington. This will include managing the day to day running of the service, working with people from different cultural and religious backgrounds and recruiting, selecting, training and developing the volunteer befrienders.
Applicants will have proven experience of delivering bereavement services and working with volunteers within a diverse multi-cultural environment. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and leadership skills and also demonstrate drive, enthusiasm and innovation. This is a part time (job share) post, working days will be Wednesday to Friday.
