The To Absent Friends Essence of a Memory competition is challenging people to do just that.
To enter the competition (which closes on 21 October), people are asked to take a photo and write up to 50 words which together evoke a story or memory of someone they love who has died.
Entries are encouraged from photographers and writers of all ages and abilities living in Scotland, and there is a ‘under-18’ category which will be judged separately.
Winners will be invited to attend an exhibition of their work at a reception in the Scottish Parliament on 30 October, and winning entries will also form an exhibition to be displayed 1-7 November at Marie Curie Hospice Glasgow as part of To Absent Friends, a people’s festival of storytelling and remembrance.
The Essence of a Memory competition is being run by Good Life, Good Death, Good Grief as part of the Luminate Festival of Creative Ageing.
More information on the competition, and how to enter, is available on the To Absent Friends website.
