Former Mayor of Greenwich, Leo Fletcher, has donated £37,000 to support Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice’s mission of providing high-quality compassionate care to patients and their families.
As the Mayor of Royal Greenwich for 2022-2023, Councillor Leo Fletcher chose the hospice as one of his charities. In April 2023, the Mayor teamed up with property developers, Berkeley to host a charity Abseil, raising over £20,000 for the hospice.
Throughout the past year, Cllr Fletcher has actively engaged in various initiatives, collaborating closely with members of the community to enhance the hospice’s facilities and services. Among the notable contributors are:
- Ardmore Group: Their donation and installation of a brand new kitchen, along with a Quooker tap for the Bluebell Family Room, have significantly enhanced the hospice’s facilities for patients and their families.
- LandSec U+i: Providing pro-bono professional services, including specialist advice and the expertise of architects from Coffey, has been instrumental in improving the infrastructure and functionality of the hospice.
- Diego Gomes, Fast Shield Packaging: Through regular donations and unwavering support, Diego Gomes has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to the hospice’s mission and vision.
- Taj Bhambra, Alcatel Submarine Networks: Taj Bhambra’s dedication to the hospice as his Company of the Year has been commendable. This is evidenced by his efforts in fundraising, volunteering, and facilitating donations for the hospice’s retail operations.
Hospice Chief Executive, Kate Heaps, said: “I am personally so grateful to Leo for his incredibly generous support throughout his mayoral year, not only did he facilitate a huge donation from the Mayor’s fund through his tireless fundraising, but he also connected the hospice with so many local people and businesses who will continue to support the hospice for years to come, this really serves as a reminder of the power of community and compassion.
“As we celebrate our 30th anniversary, we remember the tens of thousands of lives that have been touched by the hospice’s services and renew our commitment to providing exceptional care and support to patients and those who love them for the next 30 years”
