Hospice aims to create new income stream with luxury collection

Dorothy House Hospice Care in Wiltshire has launched its first collection of indulgent body and home fragrance products with the aim of generating new income.

The hospice is expected to care for more than double the number of patients by 2025, and to help meet this need staff and volunteers were tasked with finding new ways to increase their revenue.

With the help of the Complementary Therapies Team they researched and developed Ubiety, a range of therapeutic products for the UK’s wellbeing market.

Ubiety means “being grounded in one place”, the opposite of ubiquity. Ethically produced in England and using only vegan and environmentally-friendly ingredients, the brand’s initial collection of six products includes a hand wash, hand lotion, body salve, lip balm, facial mist and scented candle, with more products to be launched later this year.

The range is designed to appeal to discerning customers of all ages who are interested in the provenance of their products; ingredients include premium grade essential oils and a non-beeswax formula for the candle and lip balm.

Development and production of the range was possible thanks to support from Arcania Apothecary Ltd, a cosmetic and perfume manufacturer based in Somerset, Limelight Bath ltd, a home fragrance manufacturer who produced the home fragrance candle and Supple Studio in Bath who created Ubiety’s luxe design.

Anna Hall, Ubiety Product Development Manager said:

“With Arcania Apothecary’s generous offer to develop a range of products for us, there was an opportunity to reflect the hospice’s emphasis on holistic care and wellbeing in a luxurious new brand that generates income for the charity.”

Richard Howard, of Arcania Apothecary and co-founder of Ubiety said:

“It’s easy to create an authentic luxury brand when it is born out of the genuine heritage of holistic care at Dorothy House. By bringing Ubiety to the marketplace we are doing something good that truly gives back in every way.”

All profits from the range go directly to Dorothy House Hospice Care.
