More than 120 hospices took part in this year’s Hospice Care Week campaign and it is hoped that next year’s campaign will reach even more people across the UK.
Activities during the 2012 week included MP volunteering, open days, art exhibitions, information stands, concerts, schools activities and more.
Around 400 images were uploaded to the ‘I am hospice care’ online gallery to show that hospice care is about people and communities, not buildings, and many hospices used social media as well as local press, radio and TV, to get the message across.
As in previous years the dates are timed to coincide with World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, which takes place on 12 October 2013. The UK is one of over 70 countries holding hospice and palliative care awareness activities at this time.
