St Clare Hospice’s highly-regarded Palliative Care Conference 2025 returns this October, with the timely and thought-provoking theme: The Future of End-of-Life Care.
Now established as one of the leading regional events for professionals across health and social care, the conference takes place at the Harlow Hotel in Essex on Friday 10th October and promises to be the most impactful yet, offering delegates the latest insights, professional development and the chance to engage in the latest thinking in palliative and end-of-life care.

A major highlight of this year’s event will be a keynote address from Toby Porter, chief executive of Hospice UK – a nationally renowned figure and leading voice in shaping hospice care across the country.

St Clare’s medical director Dr Qamar Abbas said: “Attracting a speaker of Toby Porter’s calibre is a real coup for a regional hospice conference and a rare opportunity for delegates to hear directly from one of the most influential leaders in the field. As a nationally-recognised leader and advocate for hospice and end-of-life care, his insights will be invaluable as we look to the future of how compassionate, inclusive and sustainable end-of-life care is delivered across the UK.”
The conference programme will feature a mix of keynote talks, expert panel discussions and networking, aiming to inspire collaboration and forward-thinking among professionals at all levels.

Joining Porter will be a line-up of respected plenary speakers across palliative care, academia and health policy, including Sharon Allen, CEO of Arthur Rank Hospice, and Dr Simon Etkind, a leading expert in palliative medicine and research, each offering a unique perspective on the future landscape of care.
Two-woman theatre company, Haylo, will also be returning for another unique performance exploring the emotional narratives of patients, carers and professionals following their St Clare Hospice Palliative Care Conference debut in 2023.
Dr Abbas added: “
Our conference is a chance to come together with like-minded professionals and explore how we can contribute to a better future for people at the end of life.
“We’re incredibly proud to welcome such a fantastic line-up of speakers this year, offering our delegates the opportunity to explore innovations, challenges and evolving best practice, and hear insights that will be both inspiring and thought-provoking.
“Whether you work in a clinical setting, social care, community support or management, our conference will offer new knowledge, fresh perspectives and meaningful networking opportunities. We can’t wait to welcome you.”
Tickets are available from stclarehospice.org.uk/conference and delegates can take advantage of the early bird price of £95 by booking their place before the offer ends on 31st July. CPD points have been applied for.
St Clare Hospice is a charity providing specialist palliative care to improve the lives of people affected by a life-limiting illness in West Essex and the borders of East Hertfordshire. Our care helps patients, their families, and carers, to make the most of every moment together, no matter how long they have left to live. We support them at home and in the Hospice.
With limited NHS funding, we need to raise more than 70% of our annual costs to provide our vital services; in 2024/2025 the running costs of our charity are expected to be £8.1 million. We therefore rely on our local community to help us raise money each year so we can continue being there for local families facing one of the most difficult journeys in life.
