Hospice UK’s annual conference kicks off in Liverpool

Categories: Education.

The three-day conference, ‘The art and science of hospice care’, will see a number of creative activities run alongside the programme of plenaries, parallel sessions and workshops.

The conference has four key themes for this year: arts and holistic care, science and innovation, policy into practice and business and culture of care.

The programme aims to offer something for everyone – with sessions on new approaches to care, income generation and using data, to workshops on advocacy and influencing policy, creative collaboration, and sustaining hospice workforces.

This evening will see a celebration of the innovative work and inspiring people in hospices across the UK, with the announcement of the Hospice UK award winners, sponsored by the National Gardens Scheme.

In between the main sessions, there will be plenty to do during the breaks. Some of the conference sponsors and exhibitors will be giving short, thought-provoking talks and presentations and there will be live performances by theatre groups and musicians – including the choir from Maggie’s Cancer Care Centre.

This year, Hospice UK are also holding ‘meet the team’ sessions during breaks, where delegates can meet the charity’s grants, media and PR, hospice support, clinical, income generation and policy and advocacy teams.

Even if you can’t make it, there are plenty of ways to get involved.

Presentations and videos of plenaries will be available on Hospice UK’s website, ehospice UK will be publishing regular reports from conference, and you can join in the conversation on Twitter using #HUKconf15
