Improving access to education for children with life-limiting conditions

Categories: Education.

The national charity is running the events for education professionals working in schools, early years and further education in England. They will be held across the country as follows:

  • Tuesday 15 September: Friends House, 173-177 Euston Road, London NW1 2BJ.
  • Wednesday 16 September: Newcastle Copthorne Hotel, The Close, Quayside, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 3RT.
  • Monday 21 September: Birmingham, The Studio, Caxton Gate, 14 Cannon St, Birmingham B2 5EP.
  • Thursday 24 September: Exeter, Thistle Exeter City Centre, The Rougemont Hotel, Queen Street, Exeter EX4 3SP.

The events will be most relevant for governors and trustees, heads and senior managers, special educational needs coordinators, classroom teachers, teaching assistants and school nurses.

There will be interactive sessions covering what must be done to help give children and young people aged 0-25 with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions access to education.

The sessions will address the three stages education professionals should expect to encounter: diagnosis or recognition, ongoing care and end of life – remembering that children may move backwards and forwards between the different stages, or miss stages out depending on individual circumstances.

Further information about the workshops can be found on the Together for Short Lives website
