Qualified Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists with an interest in palliative care. This course will be suited to those working in the community or the acute setting where a percentage of their caseload is made up of palliative patients and those at the end of life. It would also be useful to colleagues that have taken up new posts in palliative care.
With improvements in treatments and management there are an ever increasing number of patients that fall under the “palliative” heading. This patient group can benefit a great deal from therapy input, but they can have complex needs, and at times those that do not work with this patient group on a fairly regular basis may feel they lack confi dence in working with them.
This day will help participants to:
- Give a better understanding of the Physio and OT role with this patient group
- Increase confidence in providing meaningful interventions to this patient group; to include group discussion and treatment ideas around breathlessness, fatigue management and exercise provision, goal setting and difficult conversations.
- To improve awareness of relevant precautions and contraindications to interventions within this patient group
