John Taylor Hospice and League of Friends merge

The League of Friends for John Taylor Hospice has joined forces with the Birmingham-based hospice, to jointly fundraise for patient care and raise awareness of their services locally.

Founded more than 40 years ago, the League of Friends is a charity made up of volunteers working to raise funds for the hospice’s patients. They have held events and funded support for patients from days out to essential equipment such as freezers and cookers.

The hospice and the League of Friends have been separate charities but have now joined forces to ensure a more coordinated approach.

John Taylor Hospice CEO Penny Venables said: “For decades the volunteers who make up the League of Friends have given their time and energies to supporting our patients and we are incredibly grateful for that support.

“With John Taylor Hospice being a charity and needing to fundraise on a much larger scale it makes sense for the League of Friends to join our hospice team. We look forward to working together on lots of brilliant projects in the years ahead.”

League of Friends Chair Sue Jones said: “Combining our skills and energy will hopefully mean increased fundraising and awareness for the hospice which in turn will benefit the hundreds of patients and their families who are supported by John Taylor Hospice every year.

“Joining with the hospice ensures the legacy of the founders of the League of Friends continues into the future.”
