Yorkshire-based children’s hospice wins Charity of the Year 2025 and The Mountbatten Group, which comprises Mountbatten Isle of Wight and Mountbatten Hampshire, has been named UK Hospice of the Year and the winner of the People’s Choice.

Yorkshire-based Martin House Children’s Hospice has been awarded Charity of the Year at the 11th annual National Charity Today Awards™ 2025.
Judges recognised Martin House’s exceptional impact, innovation, and commitment to sustainability. They also honoured the transformative and measurable difference it continues to make in the children’s hospice sector through their £21.9m project to extend and refurbish the hospice.

Martin House provides specialist paediatric palliative care to children and young people with complex, life-shortening conditions from across West, North and East Yorkshire. Led by a multidisciplinary team of specialist doctors, nurses and therapists, the hospice supports more than 550 families every year, delivering care 24/7, 365 days a year
The win comes as the hospice enters the final phase of a £21.9 million redevelopment project designed to meet the increasingly complex care needs of the families it supports – a key factor in the judges’ recognition.

The Mountbatten Group wins two Charity Today awards
The Mountbatten Group, which comprises Mountbatten Isle of Wight and Mountbatten Hampshire, has been named UK Hospice of the Year and the winner of the People’s Choice Award at the national Charity Today Awards 2025.
At a gala lunch in Peterborough, the end-of-life provider was named the winner of two accolades.
Sponsored by Sinclair Method UK, the awards were handed out on Wednesday, 15 October.
The UK Hospice of the Year award honours ‘an outstanding hospice that has demonstrated exceptional compassion, innovation, and excellence in end-of-life care. It recognises organisations that provide holistic, person-centred support for patients and their families, going above and beyond in the most sensitive of circumstances.’
The People’s Choice Award is voted for by the public and ‘celebrates a charity, fundraiser or volunteer whose work has captured the hearts of communities across the UK, earning exceptional support and recognition.’
