But what exactly is NHS Change Day? Here is what the organisers had to say:

NHS Change Day is a grassroots social movement started in 2013 by a group of front-line staff. The idea is to get as many people as possible from inside and outside the NHS to pledge to do one thing to make the health service better, on one day. It is the single biggest day of collective action the NHS has ever seen.

Can anyone get involved?

Yes, anyone can get involved, whether you work in or alongside the NHS or are a patient or member of the public.

How do I get involved?

It’s simple. Think about what you want to do and do it! Make or join a pledge, share your pledge and show your support by liking and joining other pledges.

What can I pledge about?

Your pledge can be anything you like – it’s personal to you – as long as it’s about doing something to improve care, integration, attitude, perspectives or experience for patients or staff. You can pledge on your own or with others as a team, or your whole organisation. For some ideas, have a look at what other people have pledged.

How do I make my pledge real?

Do what you say you’ll do. Pledges are important but we need to make sure we act on them. Come back and tell us when you’ve completed your pledge and you can download a certificate and share your experiences with other changemakers.

What difference will my pledge make?

Your pledge is your chance to make a positive improvement to your NHS. Every pledge, whether big or small, will make a difference. It will also help inspire other people to get involved. Taken together, all the pledges add up to one really big difference in the NHS with a move towards better outcomes for patients and staff.

How do I find out what’s going on locally?

Have a look at the interactive map to see who else in your area has got involved. It’s also worth talking to other people and organisations in your area.

How can I view who has pledged in my organisation?

Go to the pledge wall list view and then type part of your organisation’s name into the search box. Clicking on the relevant organisation name in the search results will then list all the pledges from that organisation. Or, if you know where a particular organisation is in the UK, you could go to the pledge map and find the pledges from that organisation there!

How can I get support to run Change Day in my team or organisation?

You can download useful resources on the NHS Change Day website. There are also local hubs in each region who may be able to point you in the right direction or give advice about how to run your own Change Day locally. If you wish to speak to someone about local support please contact changeday@nhsiq.nhs.uk.
