Over 2,000 runners took to the streets of Swindon on Sunday 28 September for the 2025 Swindon Half Marathon, with 116 participants running for Prospect Hospice in support of local patients and families.
As the Chosen Charity of the Year, Prospect Hospice was thrilled to see such an incredible turnout from the community, all helping to raise over £28,000, and counting, for the hospice’s free, compassionate palliative and end-of-life care.
The event also marked a special milestone, celebrating 45 years of caring for the community.
“We are so grateful to everyone who ran, cheered, and supported Team Prospect,” said Jeremy Lune, Chief Executive at Prospect Hospice. “Every mile completed and every pound raised will make a real difference to the patients and families we care for across Swindon and north east Wiltshire. Seeing over 100 runners join us this year was truly inspiring.”
Participants enjoyed a scenic route through Wanborough, Badbury, and Medbourne, with the fast, flat opening miles and gentle hills providing a perfect challenge for runners of all levels. Team Prospect runners received branded vests, fundraising support, and the encouragement of volunteers and staff along the course.

Mary Cheston, whose father received care from Prospect Hospice and who is also taking part in the Great Wall of China Trek in October to raise funds for the hospice, said: “Running the Swindon Half Marathon with my brother for Prospect Hospice was incredibly meaningful for us.
The Prospect nurses who visited our home gave us much needed respite and allowed us to say goodbye in a beautiful way, at home as he had wished. We will forever be thankful for what they did for us. Being able to give back while challenging myself physically feels special.
I’m also looking forward to taking on the Great Wall of China Trek in October to continue supporting this amazing charity.”
The funds raised will directly support the hospice’s vital work, ensuring that expert care and emotional support remain free and accessible to everyone in the community.
