The Palliative Care Formulary provides information for health professionals about drugs used in palliative and hospice care. It includes unlicensed (unlabeled) indications and routes, and details about the administration of multiple drugs by continuous subcutaneous infusion.
For the new edition, every drug monograph has been reviewed and updated. There are also two new chapters on variability in response to drugs and the drug treatment of pruritus.
Although written primarily with cancer patients in mind, the formulary does contain specific material relating to several other life-limiting diseases such as COPD, congestive heart failure, renal failure, and Parkinson’s disease. It also also includes a number of quick prescribing guides and quick clinical guides.
In addition to the print version (which costs £50 including postage within the UK) and a PDF version (which costs £25) there is an online version of the Palliative Care Formulary which is updated continuously.
