Principal Social Worker
36 hours per week
Location: Sydenham, SE London
Salary: From circa £39,300 (depending on experience)
Founded in 1967, St Christopher’s Hospice pioneered the modern hospice movement and is internationally renowned as a centre of innovation and expertise in the field of palliative care.
This social work role involves providing a broad range of interventions in response to the often complex psychological and social needs of patients and families under the care of the Inpatient Unit and Community Anniversary Team (home care patients seen at the hospice). Close liaison with the broader multi-disciplinary team will be key and some community and ward based social work will also be required. The post-holder will be expected to contribute to the hospice education programme, will need to have excellent social work skills and have clear insight into the social and psychological impact of advanced disease, death and bereavement.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and confident social worker with significant relevant post qualification experience to complement our vibrant and well established social work, bereavement and welfare department. This is a rewarding and exciting role with regular supervision and opportunities for professional development.
