Do you want to make a difference to our patients and their families at one of the most important times of their lives?
Then a position at Princess Alice Hospice might be just what you are looking for. Princess Alice Hospice is one of the top ten adult hospices in the UK providing specialist palliative care in a superb purpose-built 28 bedded In-patient Unit and Day Hospice, and in the community within a ten mile radius of the Hospice.
Following a successful trial at Princess Alice Hospice we are now able to provide a Night Response Service 7 days a week in partnership with Kingston and CSH-Surrey Clinical Commissioning Group.
We are now in a position to recruit Senior Healthcare Assistants (SHCA) and build on our existing Princess Alice Hospice night nursing team. We are looking for SHCAs experienced in palliative care and/or the community setting.
The post holder will be expected to work flexibly on the Night Response Rota travelling with a RN to patients in their own homes. They also support staff in nursing and residential homes with patients already known to the hospice. The night response nurses are based at the hospice and support the nurses on the In-patient Unit when not visiting patients in the community.
The post holder may also be requested to join our excellent team of 8 to 8 nurses who remain with patients and families overnight. This post will enable you to develop your skills in caring for patients towards the end of life and supporting them to die in the place of their choice. You will be supported by our clinical lead for the 8 to 8 Night Nursing Service and relevant hospice staff including our out of hours telephone advice service.
Experience in caring for patients who are terminally ill is essential.
Due to the wide ranging catchment areas covered by the hospice, applicants will need to have their own car with a full driving licence.
It is highly recommended that you contact Dawn Neil-Jones, Clinical Lead for the 8 to 8 Night Nursing Service on 01372 461804 for an informal discussion/visit prior to submitting your application for this post.
