We are one of the UK’s largest hospices providing a range of specialist palliative care for people living with or affected by life-limiting illnesses. As a charity, our services are available free of charge to people over the age of 16 from across the Greater Manchester area. Our annual running costs are over £9 million per year, approximately two-thirds of which needs to be raised from voluntary contributions.
We are seeking to employ an experienced Specialist Palliative Care Dietitian to lead the dietetic service for the organisation working flexibly across our 3 hospice sites. The post holder will provide a specialist nutritional advice, support, interventions and dietary education for the patients accessing the hospice services. Provision for all hospice patients may vary from direct patient contact through to providing advice to other team members caring for the patient, such as the multidisciplinary team to promote nutritional health. A key part of the role will be to support and develop the nutritional link nurses.
The post holder will also need to establish and maintain effective communication between dietitians working in the primary, secondary and tertiary settings to enable a smooth transfer of dietetic care and a continuation of dietetic monitoring/therapeutic support as the patient transfers between services and settings.
