St Luke’s Hospice is an organisation that values and adds quality to individual’s lives’. Working for St Luke’s offers a real opportunity to make a difference. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, experienced and motivated specialist palliative care social worker.
In addition to the 30 hour post, we are also looking to recruit bank social workers within the specialist palliative care social work department to work on a flexible basis as the need arises.
The post holder will be responsible for an efficient, effective high quality service for all service users referred to the team. You will liaise and work with the MDT and colleagues from the statutory and voluntary sector to formulate clear plans for service users and in particular give priority to complex circumstances/situations.
A qualification in social work plus current membership of professional/registration bodies is essential as well as post qualification experience. In addition, evidence of partnership working including experience of involvement with Continuing Health Care/Local Authority is also required. Awareness of specialist palliative care social work issues is essential along with experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.
The successful candidate must have the ability to effectively manage a caseload along with being an advocate on behalf of service users. You must be able to work on your own initiative and have the ability to negotiate involvement across all levels of professionals both inside and outside the organization.
