Princess Alice Hospice, Esher, Surrey serves a population of approximately 1 million people, and is referred around 3000 patients yearly, with nearly 900 patients being looked after in the community at any one time. The hospice was recently rated as outstanding in all 5 domains by CQC.
SPECIALTY DOCTOR IN PALLIATIVE MEDICINE
Hours: Part time –
6 Programmed Activities per week (across 4 days) or
8 Programmed Activities per week (across 4 or 5 days), plus
1.2 PAs for on call
Salary: £40,758 – £53,602 pa. pro rata (7.2 PAs to 9.2 PAs), plus on-call banding (4%) and Fringe London Weighting
We are looking for a Specialty Doctor in Palliative Medicine to join our exciting Multi-Professional Team. As the hospice has a particularly robust medical team, they will be well supported to work to high standards and to be appropriately developed within their role.
The post holder will play a key role in the clinical care of our community patients, as part of the innovative Enhanced Support Team. Specifically, the doctor will liaise directly with GPs / community nurses after assessing unstable / complex patients in collaboration with the wider Multi-Professional Team.
The doctor will provide on-call cover (only up till 22.00h) and will be able to contribute to the wider development of Hospice services, including educational activities (we have an active Education and Learning Resource Centre).
Other duties will include: regular participation in audit, service evaluation and research projects; and representing the Hospice at appropriate palliative care and end-of-life care meetings.
Applicants must provide evidence of full registration, with a GMC licence to practice and revalidation. Where applicable, there is potential to support doctors working towards a Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).
