St Elizabeth Hospice has announced the appointment of Ann Monks as the charity’s new Chair of the Board. Ann succeeds Ian Turner, who has stepped down after twelve years of dedicated service on the hospice’s Board.
Ann joined the Board in 2022 and brings extensive experience in business development and marketing, having worked across professional practices and financial services.
Ann said: “I am honoured to be appointed as Chair of the Board. St Elizabeth Hospice is a true centre of excellence; we are led by a first-class management team and our palliative care services are delivered and supported by the most wonderful and dedicated staff and volunteers.
“I feel very privileged, not least because I have a personal connection to the hospice, having appreciated the compassionate care which my husband received.
“We have ambitious plans to deliver our care across a much wider community. We recognise that we need to reach more people, further up our coast and it is our heartfelt intention to deliver our services where they are needed.
“I cannot think of a better or more fulfilling time to be involved. Together with my colleagues on the Trustee Board, we aim to provide direction and support to achieve our objectives. Exciting times await us.”

Consisting of twelve members, St Elizabeth Hospice’s Board of Trustees is responsible for ensuring the quality and continuing development of the outstanding care and support, St Elizabeth Hospice provides to both patients and their families.
Judi Newman, Chief Executive Officer at St Elizabeth Hospice, added: “Many thanks to Ian for his fantastic service to the hospice. The charity has benefited immensely from his expertise and experience during his tenure and we are grateful that Ian will remain a keen friend and supporter of the hospice.
“The whole hospice team warmly welcomes Ann to her new role on the Board. She joins us at a very exciting time as we continue to expand and enhance our services to support more people across East and Mid-Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney.”
An independent Suffolk charity, every year St Elizabeth Hospice supports over 4,000 patients & families living with life-limiting illnesses in the local area.
Annually, these services cost around £12 million to deliver, with 70% of funds raised via generous community support through donations, fundraising challenges, retail shops and gifts in Wills.
