The Heart of Kent Hospice provides expert palliative care and end of life care for people across Mid Kent, serving a population of approximately 220k. We now have the following opportunity which is a key role within our team responsible for supporting the delivery of palliative care services.

An experienced person is required to provide advice, consultation and information to patients, their families and carers regarding welfare benefits and financial support.

You will give direct welfare benefits advice and information, in the Hospice and within the community, assessing the needs of patients, their families and carers, both pre and post bereavement.

The role will involve liaising and developing positive working relationships with other external agencies, both statutory and voluntary, and making appropriate applications to organisations for financial support to meet the needs of patients and their carers.

Applicants must have some experience of working in a welfare advisory role, and have up-to-date knowledge of the benefits system and relevant legislation. Experience of working in a specialist palliative care or related setting would be desirable.
