Willen Hospice has added its voice to a powerful national campaign urging the public to consider leaving a gift in their Will to benefit local hospice care. New data from Hospice UK’s ‘This is Hospice Care’ campaign reveals that gifts in Wills are the lifeline keeping the nation’s hospices open, funding the equivalent of 400,000 nights of hospice care every year.
Willen is one of 127 hospices across the country backing the campaign. Through real-life stories, the campaign shows how hospices help support whole communities during their hardest days, and how those same communities can make giving back part of their legacy.
The importance of hospice care, now and in generations to come, is undeniable. Willen Hospice cared for around 1,000 of the 310,000 UK people facing terminal illness last year. And demand for palliative care is set to jump by 25% by 2048.
As a registered charity, Willen Hospice relies heavily on its local community to raise £9.6 million each year to fund its services. On average, gifts in Wills help the Hospice care for 1 in every 11 patients.
