Hospice Action Network is happy to announce that the Rural Access to Hospice Act has been fully reintroduced in Congress! Can you please take a minute today to ask Congress to support it?
The bi-cameral, bi-partisan Rural Access to Hospice Act (S. 1190/H.R. 2594) was introduced by Senator Shelley Moore-Capito (R-WV), Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Congressman Ron Kind (D-WI) and Congresswoman Jackie Walorski (R-IN). The Rural Access to Hospice Act will allow RHCs and FQHCs to receive payment for hospice services while acting as attending physicians for their patients. This would allow RHCs and FQHCs to bill and be paid for hospice attending physician services the same way they are currently paid for other services they provide.
HAN has reason to believe that a rural health package is being discussed in Congress, and we, the hospice and palliative care community, need to show that the Rural Access to Hospice Act has wide bipartisan grassroots support to bolster our argument to include this bill in the package. You can help by completing the HAN Action Alert, and then sharing it with your friends, family, coworkers, and on social media. The online Hospice Action Network advocacy portal makes it easy to do from your desk or digital device.
Once you have completed the Action Alert, please consider completing a Letter to the Editor as well and sharing with you local newspaper. Members of Congress read their local papers daily, and it influences their decision making if they see specific pieces of legislation mentioned in their local papers. Submitting this pre-written Letter to the Editor to help spread the word – you may also adapt the letter to reflect needs in your community.
Thank you for making time to be an advocate today!
