Crowdfunding helps FHSSA provide needed support for care

Categories: Community Engagement.

In September 2012, FHSSA created a crowdfunding platform as a new means to raise awareness and support for its work. Since its launch, more than $17,000 has been raised through FHSSA and FHSSA partner and champion campaigns. Small gifts, often just $25 or less, given to one of FHSSA’s crowdfunding campaigns have made a big impact.

In the Fall 2013, FHSSA and the staff of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization used crowdfunding to raise over $5,000 to build a clinic for Shepherd’s Hospice, located in the village of Mopala, Sierra Leone, Africa.

“I’m proud of the team working at NHPCO was motivated enough to raise money to support the building of this clinic. Many of our staff were amazed how much could be accomplished in Africa with the dollars we were able to raise this fall,” said J. Donald Schumacher, president and CEO of NHPCO and its affiliate organization FHSSA.

“The FHSSA crowdfunding platform is a great tool for fundraising,” stated Sarah Meltzer, Senior Director, Annual and Corporate Giving for FHSSA. “Our partners and champions can create their own, custom campaign pages and connect with their community.”

FHSSA continues to work with Launcht, a company that partners with emerging crowdfunding portals as the technology developer of the crowdfunding platform.

FHSSA encourages all Partners and Champions to create their own crowdfunding campaigns. Visit http://crowdfunding.fhssa.org to learn more and support these campaigns
