Dr. Boden leads a multidisciplinary team that gives patients, caregivers and families the clinical expertise, compassion and support they need to maximize comfort and preserve dignity throughout end-of-life care.

In his role, Dr. Boden will oversee comprehensive hospice and palliative care services for patients with a wide range of life-limiting or terminal illnesses including cancer, stroke, heart disease, lung disease, ALS, Alzheimer’s and more.
“My goal is to work collaboratively with clinicians and caregivers to ensure patients in the Pensacola community receive end-of-life care that aligns with their personal wishes and values,” said Dr. Boden. “I’m committed to providing solutions that focus on improving the quality of life for patients and their families and educating the community about the role quality end-of-life care can have in helping patients achieve comfort and peace.”
Board certified in internal medicine and hospice and palliative medicine, Dr. Boden joined VITAS as a part-time medical director in June 2017 and became full-time in February 2018. He also teaches in-patient internal medicine as an associate professor with the Florida State University College of Medicine. Most recently, he served as the medical director of Regency Hospice for eight years and was the medical director for the inpatient palliative care center at Baptist Hospital, both in Pensacola, Florida.
Dr. Boden is a member of both the American College of Physicians and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He received his doctoral degree at St. Matthews University School of Medicine in Grand Cayman Island, and completed his residency in internal medicine at Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center in Greenville, South Carolina.
VITAS began accepting hospice-appropriate patients in the greater Pensacola area in 2017 with the opening of two offices in Pensacola and Ft. Walton/Niceville.
