NHF Workforce Emergency Support Fund

Categories: Community Engagement.

During the NHPCO 2020 Interdisciplinary Conference (Oct. 12-30), affiliate organization National Hospice Foundation is raising funds that will benefit NHF’s Workforce Emergency Support Fund, which is used to assist hospice/palliative care workers following natural disasters or other public emergencies. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the fund has also been used to provide  crucial Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) supplies to hospice organizations struggling to secure necessary PPE.

You need not be a participant in the Interdisciplinary Conference to support the Workforce Emergency Support Fund. There are several ways you can contribute to this important cause:

  • An online silent auction runs through Wednesday, October 28. Jewelry, gift cards, and electronics like a new Ring Doorbell are among the items available to bid on. An exclusive virtual visit from Jennifer Kennedy, NHPCO’s Senior Director, Quality & Regulatory to lead a workshop or seminar for your staff is also available.
  • You can now give to NHF directly from your phone with a simple text – a totally secure and convenient way to make an impact. Just text (571) 390-8690 with the message “Give $xx (amount).”  Largest text donation on Wednesday’s during the conference will receive NHPCO swag, like a messenger bag.
  • Online donations are always welcome. Just designate your gift for “Workforce Emergency Support.”

NHF is grateful for the immeasurable support of its generous donors that support our colleagues in the field during challenging times. Apart from the COVID-19 pandemic, there have been hurricanes, serious flooding, and wildfires that have made 2020 a year like no other.

The CARES Act
An additional incentive to give is the federal CARES Act legislation (signed by the President on March 27, 2020) allowing taxpayers that do not itemize to deduct up to $300 in cash contributions made non-profits like the National Hospice Foundation. For others, the maximum limit of 60% of adjusted gross income has been lifted and any individual contributions exceeding the 100% limitation may be carried over for the next five tax years. Your dollar can stretch further in supporting the National Hospice Foundation in 2020.

Make your donation in support of the hospice provider community today!
