Uganda: Partial scholarships available for diploma course in children’s palliative care

For the very first time, professionals are able to study towards a diploma in paediatric palliative care through Mildmay Uganda. Mildmay Uganda is a specialist HIV&AIDS care and training centre situated on Entebbe Road, at Lweza, South of Kampala. Mildmay Uganda is an accredited centre for higher learning with a license from the National Council for Higher Education.

The Diploma in Paediatric Palliative Care  is a 12 months’ work-based modular course. The course can be undertaken as part time study, allowing students to continue with their employment. The course has been carefully designed to develop students’ competencies in providing quality and holistic palliative care for children with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses, and their families. It develops particular skills in managing and administering integrated Paediatric Palliative Care within a health care system as well as advocating for Paediatric Palliative Care by generating evidence and documenting best practice.

Eligibility: The course is open to recognised professionals in health and/or social care: Nurses, Doctors, Clinical Officers, Physiotherapists, Counselors, Social Workers, Psychologists and Spiritual Counselors among others

Tuition is 4,100,000 UGX or $1783 for international students for the entire course; the first 20 successful applicants will receive a 50% partial scholarship
