Now riding on Egyptian plates the bike blended nicely amongst the local vehicles! On the first day heading south, in 3 hours I passed the Mediterranean and Red sea, Nile River and Suez Canal, not your typical landmark ride!
After a stopover in Suez, the trip took me south along the desert road to Sabara, before making the awe inspiring crossing through the mountains to Luxor. The temperature and landscape changing hourly, truly breath taking.
After an overnight stay in Luxor, I had to move to Aswan, Southern Egypt to secure my place on the boat which will move me into Sudan and towards my first African Hospice.
I watched in amazement this morning as overland trucks and bikes were loaded onto a small barge which sails two days in front of the passenger boat. Let’s hope the vehicles arrive; word has it a few boats sank last year!
Sudan awaits – very hot temperatures and desert crossings. The Hospice African Adventure team raised a staggering £1000 this week, a big thank you to all friends and family who are keeping the fundraising alive.
