What an amazing two days of the Hospice NZ Palliative Care conference to connect, learn and share with fellow nurses, doctors, health workers, academics and doulas working in palliative care. The kaupapa and kōrero were rich and future focused.
We heard from international and national speakers, in plenary and concurrent session that the future of palliative care is here.
From valuing our holistic approach in a health system that is not always good at seeing the whole person to celebrating our brand as Wellbeing through until end. We were challenged to consider how can help grow the palliative care profession in our Asia Pacific region? How are death doulas supporting the circle of care? What are the triumphs of partnerships and compassionate communities? Are we listening to the voices of underserved communities and how is assisted dying sitting alongside palliative care?
We have been challenged to keep listening and working from that place of love not fear and upholding the value of palliative care as a social good not a medical event.
Thank you to all the presenters and everyone who attended.
What an amazing time! Looking forward to seeing everyone again.
