Thank you Camilla Rowland: celebrating five years leading Palliative Care Australia

Categories: Leadership and People & Places.

Palliative Care Australia (PCA) will farewell Chief Executive Officer Camilla Rowland when she leaves the organisation in April, after five years of dedicated leadership and service.

PCA Board Chair Dr Peter Allcroft paid tribute to Camilla’s contribution to PCA and to palliative care nationally.

“Camilla has been an exceptional leader for PCA. She has brought compassion, integrity and a clear sense of purpose to everything she’s done,” Dr Allcroft said. “Her ability to bring people together, listen deeply to the experiences of patients and families, and advocate strongly for the sector has made a real difference across the country.”

“On behalf of the Board, I’d like to sincerely thank Camilla for her five years of service and the legacy she leaves at PCA. We wish her every success in what comes next, and we’re deeply grateful for the impact she has made for palliative care in Australia. On a personal note, I’d also like to thank Camilla for the support she has provided to me in my role as Board Chair. I have valued her wisdom, knowledge, wise council and her ability to reflect deeply on complex issues,” Dr Allcroft said.

During her time as CEO, Camilla has strengthened PCA’s national advocacy and deepened collaboration across the health and community sectors, bringing Australia a step closer to fair access to high-quality palliative care when and where people need it.

Reflecting on her time at PCA, Camilla said: “It has been a truly rewarding experience working with PCA’s member organisations, consumer voices and the team, and I encourage others to consider joining the organisation and its mission to ensure all Australians receive high-quality end-of-life care.”

Camilla will remain in her role until April, working closely with the Board and PCA team to ensure a smooth transition.

Palliative Care Australia thanks Camilla for her leadership, her commitment, and the care she has shown for the sector and the people it serves. We wish Camilla and her family well and look forward to future collaboration.
