Chronic illnesses like cancer, diabetes, respiratory and cardiovascular diseases are responsible for two out of three deaths in Canada. Four of Canada’s leading health charities – the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Canadian Lung Association and the Heart and Stroke Foundation – have endorsed the action plan approved recently at the World Health Assembly in Geneva. Their target is to reduce premature death from chronic disease by 25% by 2025. They’ve issued a call to action on chronic disease.

Proper adherence and medication management are key elements of reducing the impact of chronic disease. Our MyMedRec smartphone app which helps people keep track of their medication has been recognized in Chatelaine magazine as, “the must-have app to keep your medicine cabinet in order.” MyMedRec is the latest innovation in our Knowledge is the best medicine program. It is also being showcased by the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturer Associations (IFPMA) in a partnership to promote mobile technologies used to combat non-communicable diseases.
