On May 29th, 2013 Isaac lost his battle with cancer. Isaac was adored by patients and was known to wander the halls of May Court checking in on them. Isaac could often be found cuddling, playing or just resting with patients. As his owner Dr. Lisa Cross describes, Isaac “really was a working dog and brought a lot of comfort to the people he visited.” May Court’s executive director, Lisa Sullivan, explains that Isaac contributed to the homelike environment the hospice seeks to create. As Sullivan says, “…when a dog is present, it creates a non-institutional feel. Even though it’s the last days of your life, it contributes to that feeling that this is your home.”
