Since 2006 we have invested more than $43 million to support palliative care research.
In addition, we have delivered $3 million to the Pallium Foundation of Canada to support training in palliative care for front-line healthcare providers. This federal support will equip more front-line care providers with the knowledge they need to deliver quality palliative care, in a range of settings, so patients can receive the on-going care they need and deserve.
I am pleased to be working with the provinces and territories on issues like palliative care and dementia and will continue to find ways to ensure that Canadians continue to receive the highest level of care. I applaud organizations like the Canadian Medical Association and the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association for their important work on palliative care.
