Celebrating Compassion – an invitation to participate

Categories: Community Engagement.

The Institute of Palliative Medicine (IPM) is preparing for its 3rd annual Curios: The Palliative Care Carnival which will take place on February 17th, 18th, and 19th.

Curios is a one-of-a-kind carnival envisioned by the youth volunteers of IPM to unite our community – young and old alike – including community members, patients, families, volunteers, entertainers, celebrities, etc.

The purpose of Curios is to raise awareness about palliative care, mobilize resources for patient care, and create a more compassionate world.

The carnival includes entertainment, such as musical performances, art exhibitions, food stalls, etc., as well as programs designed to foster human connection and compassion, such as storytelling and letter-writing.

Further Information

Apart from these programs, we observed something incredibly powerful. We saw people coming together, hearts being touched, and stories being told for a cause extending beyond palliative care.

We recognized Curios was serving as a platform to create a compassionate community. Therefore, our Curios theme this year is “Celebrating Compassion”.

Compassion is a unifying bond essential to humanity as it harbours the common desire to relieve suffering through understanding.

This year, IPM has launched a Curios Global Competition to create a more compassionate world.

We believe compassion has no boundaries, and there is a space for compassion in every component of life.

At this year’s Curios Carnival, we wanted to give our international friends a platform to share their ideas, vision, and perspective on compassion.

As part of this initiative, we have launched a competition in the following categories: photography, artwork, poetry, storytelling, letter-writing, and video.

We have created a flipbook with competition details and submission instructions. You can access it here: https://publuu.com/flip-book/72020/210295

The deadline for all submissions is February 12th.

All submissions will be judged based on creativity and relevance to our theme of “Celebrating Compassion”. The winning submissions in each category will be displayed at our Curios event venue, and all winners will receive a certificate recognizing their achievement and contribution to Curios Global.

Let us co-create a compassionate world.
