Institute of Palliative Medicine 4th Carnival

The Institute of Palliative Medicine (IPM) is preparing for its 4th annual Curios: The Palliative Care Carnival which will take place on February 23rd, 24th, and
25th in Kozhikode, Kerala.

Curios is by far the largest, one-of-a-kind carnival envisioned by the youth volunteers of IPM to unite our community. The purpose of Curios is to raise awareness about palliative care, promote death literacy, mobilize resources for patient care, and create a more compassionate world.

The carnival features exclusive entertainment, art exhibitions, shopping stalls, workshops, diverse foods/treats, etc. Watch this video for a glimpse of Curios:

In the four years that Curios was celebrated, it has created a deep-rooted understanding of compassion and community. That is certainly not possible without the help of our volunteers, staff, and community (at the local and global scale). This year also marks the 30th year of the Pain and Palliative Care Society (PPCS), of which IPM is the training, research, and outreach arm since 1993.

This year, IPM is calling upon its global citizens once again to share their ideas, vision and take on compassion. As part of this initiative, IPM seeks to create a global exhibition featuring work from around the world that portray the theme of celebrating compassion.

The following mediums will be featured: photography, artwork, poetry, storytelling, letter-writing, and video.

Submissions will be featured at the Curios event venue and viewed by over 20,000 individuals during the carnival. The submitted works will also be included in the 2024 Curios Global Magazine and will be distributed digitally across IPM’s palliative care network.

All participants will receive a certificate indicating their participation and achievement.
