Crazy colours for families at Richard House

Categories: Uncategorized.

Almost fifty family members came to Richard House on Tuesday 17 Feb for a crazy colour activity day.

The action packed day saw a variety of different activities around the theme of colours with face painting adding an extra dash of brightness.

The day included arts and crafts, making stained glass windows and rainbow fish, a Rainbow Fish sensory story, storytelling as well as drama and music workshops all with a colour theme by Half Moon theatre and a messy art activity in the Richard House grounds. Families also had the chance to take on a scavenger hunt finding and exploring things of a certain colour.

On top of all this, music experts Music In Hospitals were on hand to perform a number of family friendly songs and Dr Gee Hee from the Giggle Doctors provided even more smiles throughout the day.

The event was also the first opportunity for families to try the delicious food from the new kitchen service at the hospice, ‘the Grub Hub’, with families leaving excellent reviews.

Ornella Massera, who was volunteering for the first time, said: “I had so much fun with the kids and they were all so happy to be here. The drama room was a particular favourite. It was really nice to see the siblings having such a great time too, having a place where they can be themselves and everyone in the family is taken into consideration. It was an amazing experience and I can’t wait to come back!”
