The Transforming End of Life Care project, led by Dr Lucy Selman, Cicely Saunders International Faculty Scholar, and Vicky Robinson, Palliative Care Nurse Consultant at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, aims to improve the quality of patient and family care in advanced disease through:
- further developing, refining and evaluating its evidence-based training programme in compassionate care and communication skills
- building capacity in its specialist workforce to deliver the training and maintain staff competences consistently across KHP and its community partners.
The Cicely Saunders Institute announced details of the grant, awarded by Health Education South London, stating that it hoped this work will contribute towards national efforts to improve care for those with incurable, progressive disease, older people and those at the end of life, and support NHS staff through education and training.
