Smile International’s palliative care programme in Kosova has two main purposes:
- The advancement of palliative care through lobbying, advocacy and awareness raising activities.
- Providing palliative care for patients with terminal illness.
A clinic, with three doctors and two full time nurses treat patients in the Gjakovë region of Kosova. A palliative care conference for doctors and nurses is planned for April 2013 is further evidence of growth and development.
The new website includes a short video in which Dr Blera Zeka explains her work in Kosova and her ultimate vision for a hospice in Kosova.
