In particular, Dr Babakhanyan writes about a one-week intensive educational course on palliative care in neurology and neuro-oncology which he attended in Austria last month, along with healthcare professionals from 10 countries. He describes the course, which covered strategies for communicating bad news, caregiver burnout, grief and bereavement as “very useful and productive.”
Dr Babakhanyan comments that he found it particularly useful to be able to ask questions of the local experts, and that he appreciated the role-plays performed by the faculty members and participants.
In the article he discusses the main ‘take home’ messages he learnt from the course and from visiting the hospice in Salzburg.
