WHPCA joins the International Drug Policy Consortium

Categories: Policy.

IDPC is a global network of 130 national and international NGOs that focuses on issues related to drug production, trafficking and use.

IDPC promotes objective and open debate on the effectiveness, direction and content of drug policies at the national and international level, and supports evidence-based policies that are effective at reducing drug related harm.

The Consortium shares news, publications and events of relevance to international drug policy on their website.

One of the issues they advocate for is appropriate access to pain medication.

Stephen Connor, PhD, Senior Fellow to Worldwide Hospice Palliative Care Alliance, said: “The WHPCA is joining to add our voice to these issues along with that of the IAHPC, that has been a network member of IDPC for some time.”

The IDPC has been a regular advocate for sensible drug policies at the Commission on Narcotic Drugs, which will be held in Vienna this coming March.

The IDPC is supported financially by the Open Society Foundations, the European Commission’s Drug Prevention and Information Programme, and the Robert Carr Fund.
