As the world was celebrating this year’s World Palliative Care Day, Living Room International hosted an awareness campaign in the rural village of Chebaiywa in western Kenya.

The event drew thousands of people from within and outside the area who joined in celebrating, supporting and speaking about hospice and palliative care.

Patients and carers shared about their experiences as information workers provided information about the importance of HIV testing and cancer screening.

Over 120 women were screened for cervical cancer in the whole day event that was filled with sporting games and musical entertainment.

The Living Room International team is privileged with the opportunity to provide holistic care to people living with life-limiting conditions in Kenya.

“We are grateful for the progress that has been made in reducing pain and suffering.” Says Juli McGowan, a board member.

Living Room International remembered the lives of guests who have been a part of their community and care.

“There is still much work left to be done.” McGowan Says.
