Cherish started this initiative at the beginning of the year, and called it “Caring for the Caregiver”. It is a monthly occasion and every month, different gifts are handed out.
“We want the caregivers to receive recognition that is owed to them because they do wonderful jobs that not every person can do,” said Mardia Siertsema on behalf of Cherish.
Hospice’s caregivers each received a coffee mug with a thoughtful message printed on it. Inside the mugs were delicious winter treats. Needless to say, these sentiments were received with big smiles and appreciation.
As the national charity for hospice care, HPCA (Hospice Palliative Care Association of South Africa) champion and support the work of more than 107-member organisations, which provide hospice care to around 120 000 people across South Africa each year. Your support helps HPCA to ensure they deliver the highest quality of care, and any donation towards HPCA and its initiatives will make sure that their vital services in future is sustained.
