Truck of Love visits Lambano Sanctuary

Categories: In The Media.

The Lambano Sanctuary was founded in May 2001 by Melanie Prinsloo and Leon van den Berg. Both found a calling to make a difference in the lives of children living with AIDS.

Melanie identified a great need for a family-based home for HIV/AIDS babies in South Africa after visiting many children’s homes in the Gauteng Province. She found that most of them were for abandoned babies with the view to adoption, but when the babies tested HIV positive, most of the existing homes were not equipped to keep the babies long-term.

It was decided that a home for babies with HIV would be opened, with the view to provide a home for as long as such a child would need one.

The first baby arrived on the 2nd May 2001.
