Skills for Care, in partnership with Skills for Health, was successful in winning a bid with Health Education NE London to undertake the project. They are working with local social care, healthcare and carers to share learning and support for people at the end of their lives, and to consider how better outcomes can be achieved when social care and health work together with patients and carers.
In order to do this, the expert reference group agreed to hold focus sessions across the area to engage local people and seek their views.
The focus groups will help shape the development of learning materials about how people from different roles and settings can work together to support people at the end of their lives. There are excellent opportunities for people to then take on a champion role and be involved in developing and sharing this learning, help create a film, or consider how we can best meet the cultural needs of people in a diverse area.
The focus group session are being held in:
- Waltham Forest, Tower Hamlets, Newham, Hackney, on Monday 13 January, 1pm to 4pm
- Camden and Islington, on Wednesday 29 January, 1pm to 4pm
- Redbridge Havering, Barking and Dagenham, on Wednesday 5 February, 1pm to 4pm
If you work or live in these areas and would like to be involved, or if you wish to find out more about the project, you can contact Liz Sullivan on 0113 241 0979 or email: liz.sullivan@skillsforcare.org.uk
