to pay tribute to memory of Judy’s parents. Andy, Jamie and Judy Murray were amongst 250 golfers who took to the course to mark the 40th Anniversary Am/Am Tournament at Dunblane New Golf Club in aid of Strathcarron Hospice.
The tournament organised by the Rotary Club of Bridge of Allan and Dunblane, was poignantly dedicated to the memory of Roy and Shirley Erskine – Judy’s mum and dad – who sadly passed away earlier this year.
It was a fitting tribute to the couple, as Roy started the Tournament in 1986 and was a pivotal organiser of the event for over 25 years, helped by Shirley and other volunteers.
Shirley’s shortbread on the home baking stall was always a favourite with the golfers. The couple also lived overlooking the Dunblane course, with the Murray boys often popping in to visit their grandparents if they were out playing a round when they were younger.
Andy, said: “This is a big year for the Rotary Am/Am, an event which holds a special place in my family’s hearts. My grandfather created this wonderful team golf event in 1986 to raise funds for Strathcarron Hospice.
“To date it has generated over half a million pounds.
“I’m looking forward to taking part along with several members of my family to continue my grandfather’s legacy and to help raise much needed funds for a great cause.”

“This is a particularly important year as it’s the 40th event. The Am/Am was started by Roy Erskine, who died aged 94 earlier this year, followed by his wife Shirley nine days later.

Strathcarron Hospice provides palliative and end of life care across Forth Valley, Cumbernauld and Kilsyth. The Hospice needs £19,452 a day to support patients and their loved ones to enable them to live and die well.
In 2024/25, Strathcarron directly supported 2135 people living with a serious, often incurable illness, and hundreds more via our Education, Bereavement and Compassionate Communities Teams.
