Associate palliative care educator

Categories: Education.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join this well established, highly motivated team to develop their teaching skills and support the implementation of various programmes of education, both within the hospice and externally.

Within the last two years the hospice education team and community nurse specialist team have implemented a project to encourage advance care planning within Wigan Borough nursing homes. This project has helped residents to talk about their preferences at the end of their life and has facilitated an increased number of residents who have been able to die in their preferred place. This project will be extended into local residential homes and it is envisaged that the post holder will support the education team in delivering this project, along with involvement in a diverse range of study days and university accredited courses.

The post-holder will have advanced communication skills and demonstrable experience in training others in the workplace. They will hold a first degree in health or social care or be working towards it. A post-registration palliative care qualification and a recognised teaching qualification would be highly desirable.
