Celebrate the memory of your loved one at Prospect Hospice’s Light up a Life service

Categories: Care and Fundraising.

Grief and loss are universal experiences, and a local charity recognises the importance of providing a space for individuals to remember and celebrate the lives of those they hold dear, especially at Christmas.

Prospect Hospice’s Light up a Life service, which has been running for over twenty years, offers an opportunity for people to come together to remember the lives of those who can’t be with us at what can be a difficult time of year for many experiencing loss.

Anyone who has been bereaved and wants to take a moment to remember a much-missed relative or friend can join the service, even if they haven’t experienced the hospice’s care and support.

“At the hospice, we understand that grief doesn’t have an expiration date,” said Sheryl Crouch, head of income at Prospect Hospice. “Our Light up a Life service is more than an event; it’s a chance for our community to come together and support one another.

“This year’s service will keep many of the traditions that those who have been attending over the years will be familiar with including readings, carols, a choir performance, the procession of lantern bearers and the important lighting of the Light up a Life candle, as we remember those special people in our lives.”

The Light up a Life service is not only a powerful emotional experience but also a meaningful way to contribute to the hospice’s vital work. Donations to the Light up a Life appeal directly help to provide outstanding care to patients and their families during life’s most challenging moments. These contributions ensure that the charity can continue offering tailor-made services that include medical care, emotional support and counselling to those navigating the end-of-life journey.

This year, due to popular demand, the charity will be offering two Light up a Life services which will take place on Sunday 3 December at 2.30pm and 4pm at Christ Church, Old Town, Swindon. To attend the service, you can secure your place or if you can’t attend but would like to add your loved one’s name to our book of remembrance visit www.prospect-hospice.net/lightupalife
