The Wearing family from South Cerney near Cirencester will install their incredible annual Christmas lights extravaganza in aid of Sue Ryder which runs Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice in Cheltenham.
This year, there will be several new additions to the festive spectacular, which is available to view between 4.30pm and 8pm every day, from 1 December to 1 January 2024.
All donations from people visiting the display will go directly to the palliative and bereavement support charity.
A South Cerney family will once again install an impressive display of Christmas lights in memory of much-loved wife, mother and grandmother, Sandra Wearing.
This will be the ninth time the Wearing family have transformed their home into a winter wonderland with hundreds of festive lights in aid of Sue Ryder, which runs Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice in Cheltenham. The hospice cared for Sandra in her final days.
The display, on Beverstone Road in South Cerney, will be open for locals to enjoy between 4.30pm and 8pm, from Friday 1 December until New Year’s Day.
Every year, Kelvin Wearing, with help from his daughter Debbie and family, puts together a spectacular festive light show to delight the local community. Since its unveiling in 2014, the family’s collection of dazzling decorations has raised over £5,000 for the charity, helping ensure patients receive the best possible palliative care.
This year, visitors to the house will be amazed by the colourful festive scene, which includes: 57 festive silhouettes, 11 inflatables, seven sets of twinkly lights, eight sets of icicle lights, a kaleidoscope projecting Christmas patterns, 32 3D items including a train, 3D snowman, Father Christmas, an elf and a festive dachshund!
Several new items will also be on show this year. Debbie explained: “Every year we go on a shopping trip for new additions – it’s a bit of a yearly tradition. The only problem is running out of space! This year we have two new sections with more 3D items. Our newbies include a fluffy dog, snowman and polar bear, a multicoloured reindeer, a sleigh with two reindeer, an acrylic skiing reindeer and other acrylic figures.”
“We do this every year because raising money for Sue Ryder’s Leckhampton Court Hospice is important to us. The pain of losing a loved one is a pain like no other. Although Mum was only at the hospice for a short time, we received some amazing support.
“The work they do needs to carry on and so we will continue to raise money to support them.
“Local children are already excited watching the progress of the lights going up and seeing the joy on their faces makes us happy!”

Everyone is welcome to visit the display, from 1 December until 1 January 2024, between 4.30pm and 8pm, where donations to the hospice will be gratefully received.
