Dementia Masterclass – Bridging the Dis-Ease of Social Isolation

This one-day workshop, led by Michael Verde explores how those invested in the care of people with stigmatizing chronic illnesses and severe cognitive impairments can pro-vide for their relational needs.

At the core of the workshop is the theory and practice of empathetic communication: What is it? Why does it matter therapeutically? And how do we, as individual carers and organizations of care, transition from understanding care as an instrumental practice of doing to and doing for another to care as an existential orientation of being with another.
